Finally, we’re getting a whiff of Spring and the high hopes she brings (could we be ANY happier about that?), but since we are still in the grips of old man Winter, let’s talk about keeping ourselves healthy (physically & mentally). I’m talkin Irish Whiskey… touted for helping ease a sore throat, making a cold feel less icky and warming you from the inside out. PLUS! St. Patrick’s Day is THE holiday for this bevvie! Why not make your own “luck of the Irish” with home distilled Irish Whiskey, for celebration, quiet sipping enjoyment and for your health? I think we may be onto something here...
Here’s an easy start for you - a malt whiskey recipe on our blog. Follow this for your starter. What? You don’t have a whiskey still? Well, we can help you with that! While you’re on the website, decide which size still is going to be best for you - 2.5 gallon, 5 gallon or 10 gallon copper stills -and then enjoy our fast & free shipping (and 101 Day Money Back Guarantee and 2 year warranty because happy customers are our favorite). We can ship it out asap and you can be sipping your own Irish elixir in time for St. Paddy’s Day.
Once you have your whiskey (oh my, aren’t we proud distillers now?!), gather the following :
8 whole cloves
1 lemon slice (about ¼” thick)
1 tablespoon sugar (or honey, to taste)
¾ cup boiling water
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger of whiskey
Press the cloves into the lemon slice so they aren’t all loose and tumbly in your mix, then combine your whiskey, boiling water, sweetener and cloved lemon. Stir gently and sip your way to a place of warm thoughts and less worry. And of course, if you’re making a batch for the crowd, increase your ingredients accordingly and enjoy group deliciousness.
Distill it yourself ! Make your own whiskey at home!
